Juicy & Tea-like
A juicy, intense coffee with high acidity and a tea-like body. Expect notes of blackcurrant, rosehip, and black tea. The coffee has a medium caramel sweetness, green fruit acidity, and a pleasant black tea bitterness. As a filter coffee, it is a juicy and full-bodied coffee with notes of currant, citrus with cocoa aftertaste. Espresso brings out the acidity of gooseberries and green apples, complemented by a pleasant texture and the sweetness of salted caramel.
This year's coffee from Kenya, which we have selected for you, comes from our new collaboration with importer Dr. Wakefield. They are true legends in the field of green bean import. The company was founded in London in 1970 and has since grown into a large organization with a portfolio of over 20 countries of origin from which they select their coffee.
The lot we have selected for you is a blend called AA Blue Mountain, which is specially put together for Dr. Wakefield by their partner exporter from Kenya, Josphat. It is a blend of Bourbon, Kent, and SL28 varieties from several producers, processed using the traditional washed method. After harvesting, the cherries are de-pulped and left in fermentation tanks until the remaining pulp separates from the beans. The beans are then washed with water and left in water for another 12-24 hours. This process is called ,,washed and soaked,, and is typical for coffees from Kenya. The combination of traditional varieties and this processing creates the unmistakable taste of local coffees - juiciness, notes of blackcurrant and high acidity. The AA designation of this lot refers to the highest quality beans, for which the beans must meet the prescribed size and number of defects per kilo. This strict sorting also contributes to the higher taste quality of the coffee.
